Boko Haram insurgents are feeling the heat as Nigerian Army intensifies effort to wipe the group out of Nigeria with its latest assault.

The Nigerian Army have released latest statement confirming the killing of seven Boko Haram members in Gwoza, Borno State and recovery of weapons.
The army said the fight with the insurgents lasted over two hours which started at 04:00 GMT and left as much as seven Boko Haram fighters dead and weapons recovered.

It added that, “the desperate attack today was a failed attempt to project an image of strength."
Gwoza was at one point declared by Boko Haram as the capital of the caliphate that it wanted to create in northern Nigeria. Borno state has witnessed massive attack by the Islamist group targeting women and children.
