An angry and obsessed man punched his ex-girlfriend to death because he saw her enter her house with another man.
Police in Sapporo, Hokkaido, said Monday that they have arrested a 40-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of punching his ex-girlfriend to death, reports Japan Today.
The suspect, identified as Nobuhiko Kobayashi, assaulted Kazue Watanabe, 43, by punching her in the face at her apartment of Higashi Ward at around 5p.m. Sunday, Fuji TV reported.
Another resident in the apartment building called police to report hearing a woman screaming from an apartment. When police arrived, Watanabe was lying on the floor unconscious. She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Kobayashi and Watanabe lived in adjoining apartments, police said. Kobayashi has admitted to the charge and was quoted by police as saying that he got upset when he saw her come back to her apartment one time with another man.
