A man has been arraigned in a court in Kano State for allegedly sexually molesting 10 young children.
A middle aged man, identified as Nasiru Ussaini on Tuesday, November 16, appeared before a Kano magistrate court for sexual violation of 10 minors, barely a month after the Kano State Government shut down a private boarding college over allegation of sodomy.
The arraignment of the suspect coincided with appearance of 57 others accused of sexual related offences sent to prison custody by the presiding judge, Idris Muhammad to paved way for police investigation.
A man identified as Armaya’u Hamza 38, among the 57 suspects was accused of violating his biological son, while another 60 year old Ibrahim Abdullahi was charged for allegedly abusing a five year old girl.
Similarly 4 women accused to have committed abortion were sent to three months jail term with option N3.000 fine.
However, the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Musa Katsina, told reporters shortly after court session that in an effort to deal decisively with crime and criminality in the state led to the arrest of 57 suspects.
The police boss said that 59 victims whose ages falls between 3 and 10 have been secured and are now undergoing post trauma counselling.
Katsina however revealed that two suspects, Haladu Hassan and Umar Usman of Rimi Kebe Qtrs raped their victims and infected her with HIV.
