An elder-states man has urged Fashola to engage in people-oriented policies as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr. Federick Fasehun has advised Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola against introducing policies that will add more pain to the lives of the common people.

The Chairman of Unity Party of Nigeria warned Fashola against the introduction of tollgates on the country's highways and construction of expensive housing schemes that the poor would not be able to afford.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday, Fasehun said Fashola and other ministers must make the average Nigerian the centrepiece of all government policies.

“Fashola must shun projects like those that became controversial during his tenure as governor, including installing tollgates on the highways and building highbrow government houses that were priced beyond the reach of the poor,” he said.

He further advised the former governor to be humble in the discharge of his responsibilities and ensure that the Federal Government made the welfare of Nigerians a priority while also reminding Fashola that the ordinary Nigerians believe in his sincerity to perform and set standards to serve as benchmark for others.
