To curb truancy, UNIPORT has introduced a biometric device used to mark attendance of those present during lectures.

The management of the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has introduced the use of a biometric device for students' attendance to lectures in the institution.

The switch from manual to electronic is expected to curb student absenteeism from lectures.

A video which has already gone viral on social media, captured the moment some students of the university made use of the device during a lecture.

This move has been applauded online and hopes to be applicable in other institutions to maintain order, curb truancy and to fish out some bad eggs who don't show up to class till exam commences.
