The PDP has been suffering different casualties since it's massive loss at the Presidential elections and also after it's Governors, lost majority of the gubernatorial seats to APC.
The PDP has received another heavy blow as Tony Anenih takes a bow and explains why he decided to resign as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Party.
The news on Anenih’s resignation had come to light yesterday, May 20, by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Party in a statement which indicated that the party chieftain resigned from his post on personal grounds.
However new details have emerged in a letter written by Anenih to President Goodluck Jonathan, on why he chose to step down.
According to Premium Times, in the letter dated May 20, 2015 and titled: Notice of my decision to step down as Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, the party chieftain said his decision to quit was to enable the president to effectively assume the chairmanship of the BoT.
He recalled that in an earlier meeting with Jonathan, he indicated his intention to step down from the office of the Chairman of the party’s Board to pave way for the president to assume the position.
Mr Anenih in the letter also pledged his unflagging loyalty to the party and promised to continue to pray for the prosperity of Nigeria and the PDP.
Mr. Anenih’s resignation followed a similar decision by the party’s chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, who also stepped down on Wednesday after weeks of running battles with party chieftains who wanted him out due to the party’s abysmal outing in the just concluded election.
