President Goodluck Jonathan will have more things on his mind other than handing over on May 29th. Police have just confirmed the abduction of two of his cousins in Bayelsa state, on Tuesday May 19, 2015.
As if things weren't already bad enough for the outgoing President, Goodluck Jonathan; reports emerging now say that two of his cousins have been abducted in Bayelsa State.
Patience Egbeni and Kate Eni were kidnapped on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 by about 6 gunmen, according to The Nation.
The incident is said to have occurred at about 8:30am at Akimpelai in the Ogbia Local Government Area of the state.
“The victims are two maternal cousins of the President. We know that they have been preparing to welcome the President after the May 29 handover. Unless they are rescued before then, their dream of welcoming their brother will be a mirage,” a source said.
The incident has also been confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), for the state, Butswat Asinim.
“The gunmen were dressed in military camouflage. They went to the provision stores of the victims at the riverside and abducted them into a waiting speedboat,” Asinim said.
He said further that relevant security agencies in the state, including the marine and anti-kidnapping squad of the police, had been informed of the abduction.
