A 4-year-old boy, Steve Kanu, who was abducted two weeks ago has been freed by the police.

According to Premium Times, the Ogun State Police Command confirmed the release, saying that the kidnap suspects have been arrested.

The kidnappers stormed the Laderin home of Mr. and Mrs. Mucipal Kanu in Abeokuta in a taxi without plate numbers and forcefully took away the boy who was playing with his puppy in the compound.

Following the media report of the abduction, the kidnappers called the parents, threatening to kill the boy if the parents do not stop the media reports. They also demanded a ransom, after allowing the boy to speak with his parents.

The kidnappers were later arrested in Enugu State, South Eastern Nigeria which lies over 500km from the kidnap scene.

When contacted, the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the rescued boy is doing fine while the suspects were in police custody.

Also, the father of the victim, Mucipal Kanu, confirmed that the kid was now with his family. He thanked well-wishers, the police, and the media for their support.

He said his son looked malnourished and had lost weight when he was returned home, but he would undergo adequate treatment.
