Thousands of Kenyans are expected to line the streets of the capital, Nairobi, to welcome Catholic Church's Pope Francis for his three-day stay in Africa.
The 266th and current Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has departed the Vatican City earlier today and is currently aboard an airplane on his way to Nairobi, Kenya.
Pope Francis is scheduled to arrive in Kenya on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, his first stop on his Africa tour that includes Uganda and the Central African Republic.
The Pope Francis has been talking to journalists aboard his flight to Nairobi.
"I am going with joy to Kenya, Uganda and the brothers of the Central African Republic. Let's hope this trip brings better fruit, both spiritual and material," Reuters news agency quotes him as saying.
A correspondent in Nairobi says about 30% of Kenyans including President Uhuru Kenyatta, are baptised Catholics, and there is huge excitement around Pope Francis' visit.
All the newspapers today in Kenya are covering the visit, with many using the word "Karibu", which means "Welcome" in Swahili. See the photos below;
