The suspected killers who were identified as Larry Jo Taylor, 18, and Jalen Watson, 21, have pleaded not guilty to the alleged home invasion attack.

According to newly released police documents, Taylor told investigators he shot Amanda when she charged at him. Then he leaned over her and shot her in the back of the head.

Blackburn and his grieving father-in-law, Phil Byars, said they haven’t taken in all of the horrific details.

The Widower said: “We’re trying to take it a day at a time and we know we’re going to have to get a little into those weeds in order to rise above them,”

“But I just feel like if we took it all at once, it would crush us.”

Amanda’s father, Phil Byars, said he remains focused on the good things about his daughter.

He said: “I’m proud to be her dad. I’m proud of what she turned into. I’m proud of the woman that she was and the mother that she was.

“And that’s all I have to say.”
