Did Costa just throw away his Chelsea career? Striker appears to chuck his bib at Mourinho after being benched at Spurs...and Mikel looks like he found it all rather funny!
Chelsea striker, Diego Costa who refused to warm up with his team-mates ahead of EPL kick-off on Sunday, launched a bib at his manager, Jose Mourinho after being named on the substitute bench for their draw with Tottenham.
The forward was dropped for the match following his poor form this season as he has only scored one goal in 10 games despite Chelsea having no recognized No 9 in their squad.
Loic Remy was unavailable after his partner had a baby on Saturday and Radamel Falcao was injured, but Mourinho decided for Eden Hazard to play out of position up front instead.
In the second minute of stoppage time, Mourinho opted to bring on Ruben Loftus-Cheek instead of Costa, Costa reacted pettily to not making it on to the pitch and returned to his seat in the dug out to launch his pink bib over his shoulder, narrowly missing his boss’s head.
"If he wants to hurt me, it's not with a bib," Mourinho said, before insisting: "I have a good relationship with him, no problem."
"He was ready to play when he went to warm-up. When I decided not to play him, he went. And probably he is eating while waiting for us in the bus," Mourinho said.
Meanwhile, John Mikel Obi, who sat next to Costa on the White Hart Lane bench, watched as Costa removed the bib before watching its trail to Mourinho. Mikel appeared to giggle as the garment fell behind Mourinho and his coaching staff.
I'm sure Mourinho is going to punish Costa (and probably Mikel too) for his public show of irresponsibility and stupidity, surely he has bitten more than he can chew.
