Wild jubilation erupted in Abuja yesterday as Alhaji Yahaya Bello was unveiled as the replacement for the late Prince Abubakar Audu for the Kogi gubernatorial elections.

All Progressives Congress' National Working Committee has unveiled Alhaji Yahaya Bello, popularly known as 'Fair Plus' as the replacement for the late Prince Abubakar Audu.
Unveiling Bello at the National Headquarters of the party in Abuja on Monday after about 3 hours of meeting, the national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie Oyegun urged party leaders and stakeholders to accept the decision of the party leadership and ensure the party become victorious in Saturday’s supplementary poll.
The party also announced that Hon. James Abiodun Faleke will be Bello’s running mate but the former Chairman of Ikeja Local Government Area rejected the offer.
Oyegun explained that the decision to nominate Bello was borne out of the need to conform to the electoral laws of the nation and to ensure cohesion and fairness.
He eulogized the late Prince Abubakar Audu as the face of the party in the state, saying the party will miss his leadership qualities greatly.
Yahaya Bello while accepting the party’s nomination, pledged to ensure immediate reconciliation of all aggrieved parties in the party, saying he was more than prepared to lead the party to a resounding victory on December 5. He called on all the party leaders to work with him to take the party to higher heights.
