According to fresh reports, one of Nigeria's most prestigious universities, Obafemi Awolowo University has been closed indefinitely.
Following the seemingly unending protests by students, the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Osun State, has been closed down indefinitely.
It was gathered that the students were protesting alleged poor living condition in their halls of residence.
However, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, refuted the claim that the institution had been shut down. He said the authorities only gave the students a mid-semester break.
For two days of the protest, many students and workers were stranded as there was heavy traffic at the institution’s main gate.
According to the students, epileptic power and poor water supply had made the campus not conducive for learning.
