Fulani Herdsmen Murder Palmwine Tapper, Injure One in Delta

A renewed attack by Fulani herdsmen and cattle rearers has left a palm-wine tapper dead and another injured in Delta state throwing the community in another deep mourning.

A-30-year-old palmwine tapper was, yesterday, killed and one other severely injured by suspected Fulani herdsmen at Ofagbe community, Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State, Vanguard reports.
 
The man identified as Mr. Inibu was killed while trying to tap palmwine in a bush along the community’s road to Ashaka, in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of the state. According to the injured victim, the Fulani herdsmen surprisingly opened fire at them while they were tapping palmwine. The surprising attack has kept people wondering since they have not had any altercation with the herdsmen before.
 
Throwing more light on the incident, Olotu-Logbo of the Ofagbe Kingdom, Othuke Omejedo said: “One woman ran to me that as she was going to the market, she met the lifeless body of a boy lying on the ground on the road leading to Ashaka. She said another one was injured.”
 
The body of the deceased had been deposited in a mortuary at Ozoro, while the one that was injured, Mr. Thompson Ogege had been taken to a nearby hospital.
