Man Remanded in Prison for Raping His Own Daughter

A man is set to feel the harrowing experience of the prison yard for raping his own daughter.

 
A 42-year-old architect, Sanni Idowu, has been arraigned by an Ibadan High Court on Wednesday arraigned for allegedly raping his own daughter.

According to Daily Post, the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Tajudeen Abdul Ganiyu, told the court that the defendant was arraigned on a one-count charge of rape, adding that the defendant unlawfully had carnal knowledge of his unnamed daughter without her consent.

According to Ganiyu, the defendant had carnal knowledge of his daughter on several occasions at Amuloko area of Ibadan and threatened to cut-off her head if she tells anyone. He said that medical tests conducted showed that there was penetration.

He noted that the offence contravened Section 357 and punishable under Section 358 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Voll. II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Akorede Bakare, informed the court that he had filed a bail application on behalf of his client.

Bakare said that he had just been served the counter affidavit in respect of the bail application, and urged the court to grant him an adjournment.

Justice Munta Abimbola, after hearing the bail application, ordered that the defendant be remanded at Agodi Prison, Ibadan.

He adjourned the case till December 15 for trial.
