A man has got what he bargained for after he attacked and tried choking a helpless nurse to death as he accused her of killing his mother kept in her care.

Rose Ferrier, a nurse who was taking care of an elderly woman before she died of heart attack has bitten off and eaten the fingers of the woman's son who attacked her after accusing her of killing his mother.
The man identified as Patrick Fortune, 52, of New York who suffers from schizophrenia had attempted to choke the nurse to death but she was forced to defend herself against the man as she managed to get her attacker’s fingers in her mouth with all her might and the tips of his fingers came off. She swallowed one or two of the finger tips while trying to stop Fortune from killing her.
His brother Homere Fortune, 54, disclosed that Patrick did not have an episode in six years but that the death of the mother must have pushed him over the edge to act in a most irrational manner. Ferrier suffered cuts to her eyes and ears. She is not facing charges of assault for biting off her attacker’s fingers as it was done in self defense.
