Gov Wike Dissolves Task Force On Illegal Street Trading, Motor Parks In Rivers State

The task force has been engaging in fights with motorists which led to the destruction of vehicles and inflicting injuries on members of the public.

The Rivers state governor , Nyesom Wike has announced that the task force on Illegal Street Trading and Motor Parks in Rivers state have been dissolved

On Tuesday, Gov Wike made this announcement in a statement by Mr Paulinus Nsirim, Commissioner for Information and Communications, in Port Harcourt.

The task force had been engaging in fights with motorists and street traders which often led to destruction of vehicles, goods and inflicting of injuries on some members of the public, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported.

Mr Bright Amaewhule, the Special Assistant to the Governor in charge of the task force, has also been releived of his appointment by Gov. Wike who directed all members of the task force to return their operational vehicles and identity cards to the office of the Secretary to the State Government not later than 4pm on Wednesday, Aug. 12.

“They will be paid their salaries as they return the vehicles and identity cards.

“Government will reconstitute the task force after proper orientation and training,”
the governor said.
