A woman has lost her husband and son in a fatal road crash she was an eyewitness to.

A mum watched in horror as her husband and schoolboy son were knocked down and killed as the family walked home from a Christmas party.
The 43-year-old dad and the couple’s seven-year-old son both died in hospital. The dad was walking ahead holding his son’s hand as they crossed a dual carriage way at an accident blackspot. They were hit by a black Alfa Romeo car.
The 22-year-old male driver was arrested and is helping police with their inquiries. The mum, who was walking behind her husband and son, was uninjured but needed treatment for shock.
Family and friends left poignant tributes at the scene of the devastating crash throughout the day.
A neighbour who lives close to the crash site said:
“They were with other members of their family, laughing and singing along as they went. It’s such a tragedy, especially just before Christmas.”
