A former governor elected on the platform of the Labour Party, is reportedly set to jump ship to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
One time governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala is set to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Alao-Akala confirmed on Tuesday, December 8, that he would soon be defecting from the Labour Party (LP) to the ruling party, This Day reports.
His decision to defect was reached at a meeting he held at his Ibadan residence with his supporters on the platform of “Destiny Group.”
According to him, he decided to decamp because at the moment, APC was offering the best political platform.
The former governor stated that as soon as he has consulted with the leadership of the APC, he would make public a date for a formal declaration.
He called on his supporters to get ready to move to the ruling party with him.
Alao-Akala however said lawmakers elected on the platform of the LP should continue on that platform in the meantime.
