Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu has disclosed that the government of Nigeria has bowed to pressure by obeying its October 1 sit-at-home directive.

This he made public in a statement shared by IPOB Media and Publicity Emma Powerful.

The statement read in part: “After boasting how they would celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of their existence as a glorified British company, Aso Rock has realised the potency of IPOB’s Sit-At-Home so they quickly joined the masses by announcing an impromptu public holiday on October 1.”

He said since the Federal Government had conceded to the might of IPOB “there is no choice other than submit to the will of the people by staying put in your house on 1st October 2020.”

But Imo Commissioner of Police, Isaac Akinmoyede, assured of adequate security on the occasion of the 60th Independence anniversary celebration.

He said the Command is aware of a voice note in circulation on various social media platforms as well as a sit-at-home order purportedly issued by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), declaring the information as false, baseless, and mischievous.

He warned authors and all persons circulating the unscrupulous voice message to desist or face the wrath of the law.

He also advised Imo residents to exercise their freedom of association and movement as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“In view of the above, the Command wishes to assure members of the public that in collaboration with other security agencies in the state, it has made adequate arrangements for the safety of lives and properties of “Ndi-Imo” during the period.

“Members of the public are therefore enjoined to go about their lawful businesses as the Command is still in the business of protecting lives and properties of all and sundry.”
