The ongoing trial of T.B Joshua and others over the Synagogue Church building collapse is not going down well with some Nigerian students as they have threatened to protest against the Lagos State government.
The National Congress of Akoko Students, NACAS, in Ondo State have threatened to stage a protest against the Lagos State government should it refuse to end the ongoing trial of the founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, Prophet Temitope Joshua, over the collapse of a refurbished six-storey building inside his church premises in 2014.
According to Daily Post, the congress issued a statement signed by its National President, Comrade Oluwaseyi Aminu, NACAS describing the trial as an attempt by the government to dent the image of the cleric.
The students warned that they are already mobilizing over 200,000 of their members across the nation to stage a protest against the Lagos state government if it insists on going ahead with the court case.
The group, while praising the founder of the Synagogue Church for what it described as immense contribution to the society particularly to Akoko communities, said they would never fold their arms and allow the man of God to be punished for an incident that was not deliberately caused by him.
The student body stressed that T.B Joshua is their benefactor and had been assisting their educational development through issuance of scholarship to students from Akoko land.
It noted that the pastor has also contributed to the security sector of the state by donating Hilux vans to the police during the period when banks in Ikare were raided and many residents of the community were killed by robbers.
