A policeman's wife has left many people stunned when she was captured stealing Christmas presents from another policeman's house.
The moment of the theft
A woman, Dana Hagar, has stunned the Police in Florida were when she was stole Christmas presents from an officer's house. Police were even more stunned when CCTV showed that the culprit was another officer's wife.
The woman was caught on camera sneaking up to her neighbour's porch and casually picking up a couple of large boxes. She is then seen strolling away back home.
According to the local sheriff the boxes held Christmas presents for the two-year-old daughter of a local police officer.
The woman then returned the presents two days later at 4.30am and deposited them back onto the porch.
Surveillance footage of the incident was posted on Facebook and it wasn't long before Dana Hagar, the wife of another cop in the local police force, was identified as the culprit.
Polk county sheriff Grady Judd told WFLA : “The fact that she’s a cop’s wife is shocking, the fact that she stole from another cop’s wife is shocking.
“And, then my wife saw it on Facebook and knew more about it than I did.”
Hagar has been charged with burglary and is being held in Polk County jail.
The upscale neighbourhood of Lakeland has been hit by a a wave of 'porch pirate' thefts.
Sheriff Judd wanred: "Here’s the word. We’re watching the porch pirates, the cops’ wives are watching the porch pirates.
“Facebook is watching the porch pirates. We’re gonna put you in jail and you’ll stay in our jail where you won’t need any presents.”
