Several people were killed on Saturday, December 12, during a violent clash between the Nigerian Army and members of the Shiite Muslim sect in Zaria, Kaduna State

Heavy fighting broke out late Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday, between men of the Nigerian army and members of the Islamic movement following the attempts of the troops to arrest the leader of the movement, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
