A rare giant amphibian creature measuring 4ft 7in was found by a fisherman who accidentally stood on it.

The rare Chinese giant salamander, measuring 4ft 7in, was found by a fisherman who stepped on "something soft and slimy".
A man, Wang Yong, who discovered it in the Chongqing district in southwest China, said he stood on something soft and then later discovered it was the salamander. He contacted wildlife experts who moved the amphibian to a nature preserve after finding it was ill.
The alien-like animals are called wa wa yu - infant fish - because their cry sounds like that of a newborn baby.
The Chinese giant salamander is the largest amphibian in the world and can reach 5ft 9ins and the species is critically endangered.
