Nigerian Army Kills 35 Bandits, Recover Rustled Cows

At least 35 bandits have been killed in a bloody clash with men of the Nigerian army.

Some notorious bandits have died after engaging Nigerian soldiers in a fierce battle.
 
According to the Defence Headquarters, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji killed 35 bandits and recovered many rustled cows at Bungudu LGA of Zamfara State.
 
The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major-Gen. John Enenche made the announcement in a statement on Monday.
 
Enenche reported that the operations were executed on 17 January 2021, following intelligence reports.
 
The statement read, “Following credible intelligence on the movement of armed bandits with rustled animals at Bungudu LGA of Zamfara State, troops of Forward Operating Base Kekuwuje on 17 January 2021, responded immediately and made contact with bandits.

“In the course of the encounter thirty armed bandits were neutralized while 24 cows and an unspecified number of sheep were recovered.

“Similarly, still on the same 17 January 2021, troops deployed at Maradun received information of reprisal attack by armed bandits at Janbako village in Maradun LGA of Zamfara State.

“Troops swiftly mobilized to the area to forestall the reprisal attack.

“Troops were ambushed shortly after the Janbako village where firefight ensued.

“The gallant troops overwhelmed the bandits and neutralized five of them.”
