The honourable Minister of Transport, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi has inspected the railway system in Lagos which was funded by former President Goodluck Jonathan's administration.
Rotimi Amaechi and his entourage on the train
Former Governor of River state, Rotimi was stunned by the rail facilities in Nigerian Railways Corporation (NRC), Lagos, Nigeria as he undertakes his responsibilities as a Minister of the federal republic of Nigeria.
He shockingly revealed he wasn't aware of the topnotch railway facilities in the country with state of the art machineries. Amaechi made the remark when when he and other officials of the ministry toured the facilities of the Nigerian Railways Corporation (NRC) in Lagos.
He said, “In fact, I think we have a problem; most people don’t believe that the railway transport is functioning in Nigeria. I didn’t even know, until I started this tour, I never knew that the railway was functioning, it was even from his (MD’s) speech that I learnt that there are some coaches or services that go to Kano or Port Harcourt or elsewhere.”
Amaechi by virtue of interparty rivalries and bitter contest for power was a strong critic of the administration of former President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan under the People's Democratic Party, PDP.
