Nigeria has lost a referee in the line of duty with details concerning the cause of his death currently unknown.
Late Referee, Basit Giwa while being revived by colleagues
Popular Nigerian referee, Basit Olayiwola Giwa slumped and subsequently passed away during a fitness test organized for local referees in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Frantic efforts were made by his colleagues to resuscitate the young man but they were all to no avail. The major cause of his untimely demise is currently unknown as autopsy reports are being awaited.
