In what will come across as a really shocking development, a fire outbreak in Rafa village, Jigawa has claimed the lives of two girls.

The fire incident reportedly occurred on Saturday at about 12: 00am when the two girls of the same parents, identified as Aishatu Abdu 8, and 7-year-old Maryam were home.

Spokesman of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC ASC Adamu Shehu confirmed the incident to DAILY POST.

He said the victims were burnt beyond recognition.

He explained that operatives of the command mobilised to the scene after it received the report of the incident.

Adamu said before the fire was put out, several properties including food items, livestock were destroyed.

He said it took the combined efforts of security personnel and community members to put out the fire.

The cause of the fire incident is yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
