The 32-year-old suspect was said to have committed the offence at Omin-nla area of Ore in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

A man identified as Sunday Ayenitaju, has been arrested by the Ondo State Security Network Agency also known as Amotekun Corps.

He was nabbed for killing a commercial motorcyclist.

The 32-year-old suspect was said to have committed the offence at Omin-nla area of Ore in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

According to a source, the suspect allegedly conspired with his friend and killed the unidentified victim in Ore after they snatched his commercial motorcycle.

The source said, “Luck however ran out on the suspect as he was caught in the act by men of the Amotekun Corps who apprehended him. He later confessed to the crime “

The state Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, who confirmed the incident, described it as pathetic and unfortunate.

He urged people of the state to always be security conscious, especially during the ongoing festive period.

In his confession, the suspect said, “My childhood friend, who is popularly known as ‘Akaba’ invited me to join him in snatching motorcycles at Ore. He told me he had been in the business for a long time and that it is lucrative. He showed me over 60 motorcycles he had acquired and asked me to join him. Although he had invited me for a long time, I refused.

“On that day, we met in a hotel in Ore and agreed to take any rider caught at a lonely place where we could carry out the operation as he promised to give me a huge share. The very moment we got to a lonely place, we sighted an okada rider and stopped him. My partner immediately threw a dagger to me which I used to stab the man in his stomach and he fell down and died.

“My friend ran away when he saw that the man was dead. As I was still standing by the dead body to plan how I would take his bike away, I got a call from my partner that I should run for my dear life. But as I was on the verge of running away, men of the Amotekun caught me.”
