A fire outburst at around 11pm was reported to have taken down a section of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti. The fire affected mainly the Institution's School of Engineering destroying valuables worth millions of Naira.
A fire outburst at around 11pm was reported to have taken down a section of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti. The fire affected mainly the Institution's School of Engineering destroying valuables worth millions of Naira.
The fire outburst was confirmed by the Deputy Registra, Information and Protocol of the Polytechnic, Mr. Adeyemi Adejolu.
The fire was not able to spread to other parts of the school facilities as the combined efforts of the Ekiti State Fire Service, the Polytechnic Fire Service Team, security official and students helped in putting out the fire.
Officials have described the incidents as a “disaster of monumental proportions," because the affected area housed important and sensitive documents and materials such as computer and office cabinets.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire as it was reported that neither electricity supply nor bush burning was on at the time if the incident.
