Ex-England international, John Fashanu, has reportedly blamed his former wife, Abigail Igwe for his predicament with the police as their separation battle gets messier.
Former England National Team footballer, John Fashanu was briefly detained and questioned after police reportedly found an unlicensed gun in his possession when they stormed his Abuja mansion unannounced.
According to UK Mirror, the police officers also found five passports at the residence of the former Deal or No Deal TV show host.
The 52year old spoke, who spoke to Daily Mirror, however, denied the reports that he was taken into custody forcefully and released after 6 hours.
"I was not arrested – I went to the police station voluntarily. I'll go back tomorrow morning to the police station (today). I expect to pay a fine. It was an old fashioned firearm. I don't actually know what model it is – it's like a stub gun", he said.
The report claims Fashanu attributes his incident with the police to his ex-wife, Abigail Igwe, as their 'divorce' gets messier by the day.
An Abuja High Court will this week commence divorce proceedings between Mr. Fashanu and Abigail, who were purportedly married in 2011.
