The appointment of 34 additional Sharia Court judges in the state has been approved by Justice Nura Sagir, the Kano State Chief Judge.

Mr Baba Jibo-Ibrahim, the Kano State Judiciary Spokesman, said this in a statement issued to newsmen in Kano on Thursday.

According to him, the approval was sequel to having successfully passed the aptitude test as well as an interview conducted by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Jibo-Ibrahim said the newly appointed Sharia Court judges would be sworn-in on June 25, 2021.

All the newly appointed Sharia Court judges will be sworn-in on June 25, at the conference room of the High Court of Justice, Kano by 10 am,” the statement read in part.

Meanwhile, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State had earlier this month said his administration has no problem with granting financial autonomy to the judicial arm of the government in the State.

Ganduje made the remarks during an interactive session with newsmen as part of the event to mark `Democracy Day’ in Kano.
