5,000 Policemen Are In Joint Operation With Military In North East — IGP

The IGP said this while receiving wives of defence and police officers’ association led by its president and wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, Mrs Victoria Irabor at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba has revealed that 5,000 police officers are currently in a joint operation with the military in the Northeast to tackle insecurity in the country.

Baba said this on Monday July 5 while receiving wives of defence and police officers’ association led by its president and wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, Mrs Victoria Irabor at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The IGP said;

“Not less than 5, 000 policemen are fighting along with the military in the northeast. So, we’ve everything in common when it comes to supporting each other. The military supports the police very well in terms of civil unrest.

“The police is also called upon to support the military in or outside the country that requires reinforcement.”
