Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has said that the next president of Nigeria should come from the south.

He was reacting to the decision of the Southern Governors which stated that President Muhammedu Buhari’s successor must emerge from the South.

This comes after 17 governors, under the umbrella of Southern Governors’ Forum, on Monday met behind closed doors in Lagos, where they deliberated on issues concerning the region.

A communiqué read by the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, shortly after the meeting, said the forum is committed to politics of fairness and equity.

Reacting to the resolution, Governor Zulum who spoke on Wednesday in an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily , said his stance was not tied to any political ambition.

Zulum noted that he is not nursing any ambition of becoming the vice president of the country.

He said, “I have said it times without number that I, Professor Babagana Zulum, I am of the view that the presidency should go to the south in the year 2023 because the unity of our country is very important.

“And I have said it before, I am not interested in becoming the vice president of the country, nor the president of the nation but I want to say the right thing”.
