See What Abuja Hospital is About to Do to 29 Abandoned Corpses

An Abuja hospital has resolved to exert its own decision in the handling of some abandoned corpses in its premises by carrying out a mass burial.


 
Maitama District Hospital, Abuja, is to carry out a mass burial for 29 unknown and abandoned corpses deposited in the hospital between 2014 and 2015.

According Daily Trust, the burial will take place this month.

A newspaper publication on Tuesday said police officers deposited most of the corpses. The notice also included the names of the police officers who deposited the corpses including their divisions and phone numbers.

Officers from Maitama and Mabushi Police Divisions deposited 10 of the corpses while the Lifecamp division deposited four with Utako and Gwarinpa depositing two and three corpses respectively.

Mpape, Karshi, Apo, FCT police commands were also mentioned in the publication.

The corpses comprise 24 males and two females with two without a specified gender. One of the corpses was said to have been picked up by the roadside two months ago.

The hospital, however, did not specify the date the corpses will be buried this month.
