The Nigerian Army Has Defeated Boko Haram - Buratai Says

Nigeria's Chief of Army Staff has said the Nigerian army has indeed defeated the dreaded Boko Haram insurgency in Northern Nigeria.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Buratai has stated that the Nigerian Army has defeated Boko Haram.

According to the Daily Post, the army chief who spoke over the weekend while laying the foundation stone for the new Brigade headquarters complex at the 2 Brigade, Port Harcourt, Rivers State said the army will remain vigilant to crush any form of insurgency.

His words: “The North East operation is critical at this stage. The terrorists have been defeated; these criminals may rear their ugly heads through other means. We will continue to maintain vigilance.”

Assuring them of support towards their welfare, Buratai hailed soldiers of the 2 Brigade for their commitment to duty, stressing that the Nigerian army had remained celebrated all over the world for professionalism.

The Chief of Army Staff also commended the effort of the Brigade in the anti-oil theft war, urging them to continue to maintain very high standard of discipline.
