Tragedy as Six students, Driver, Die in Jigawa Auto Crash

A recent road mishap in the northern part of Nigeria has claimed several lives according to a report released by security operatives.

The Jigawa Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) on Monday said six students and a driver died in an auto crash involving a Toyota bus with Reg. No. 41A 05 YB on Gaya-Kano road, The Nation reports.

Mr Zayyanu Ibrahim, the Public Relations Officer of the command, told newsmen in Dutse that the accident occurred at about 12:55 p.m. on Sunday. Ibrahim said the accident happened when the driver of the bus lost control at Zangon Buji village in Dutse Local Government Area.

He said that the bus was conveying Exchange students of Unity Schools from Damaturu, Yobe, to Abuja.

The said four of the victims died on the spot, while the rest died on Monday at the Rasheed Shekoni Specialists Hospital, Dutse.

According to the public relations officer, 16 others who sustained various degree of injury were receiving treatment at the Dutse General Hospital and the Rasheed Shekoni Specialists Hospital.

He advised motorists to desist from speeding under whatever circumstances.
