The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, has stated that it is not obtainable anywhere in the world that citizens are paid for doing nothing.

Ngige stressed that Nigeria is not an exception and this will apply in the N5000 to be paid to the unemployed by the present administration.

He also said that while some people will get N5,000 under a cash conversion scheme, some will get N10,000, while others may get as much as N15,000 as they undergo training.

The minister who was speaking with newsmen at the APC national secretariat in Abuja yesterday, disclosed that people who will benefit from such stipend will go through different training and later get employed by either the state or federal government.

“We also have the programme on the commission cash transfer. Though even you the press has said it, we won’t pay N5,000 for people to be indolent. No country in the world, would pay people to go home and sleep and collect cash, so Nigeria will not be an exception.
