The twin daughters and personal aides of Oba Samuel Adelodun, the Owalobo of Obbo Ayegunle in Ekiti local government area of Kwara state who were abducted by gunmen have been rescued by operatives of the Kwara state police command.
The 6-year-old twin girls, maid, driver, and security were abducted by gunmen last Thursday on their way home from school at Omu-Aran in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesperson of the command, Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the development in a statement on Sunday, said the victims were rescued unhurt.
"The Kwara State Police Command is pleased to inform the members of the Public of the successful search and rescue operations conducted in the kidnap incidents involving twin girls of HRM Oba Samuel Adelodun, the Owalobo of OBBO Ayegunle in Ekiti Local government area of Kwara State and three servants on 14/10/2021," he stated.
"The feat, as usual, was made possible with the confidence reposed in the Kwara State Police Command, the support of the families of the victims and the collaboration of vigilante and local hunters of the area and the Royal Highness the Owalobo of OBBO Ayegunle
"The Kidnappers were under intense pressure from the forces of the Command’s Tactical teams, and the vigilante had no option than to abandon their victims and escaped into the bushes
"The victims were thereafter rescued unhurt, medically examined, found healthy and handed over to their families. The effort is still being intensified to arrest the fleeing kidnappers
"Confidence building patrols and stop and search procedures by men of the Kwara Police Command has been ordered in the area by the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State, CP Tuesday Assayomo
"The command wishes to assure the good people of Kwara State of her commitment to ensure citizens and residents of Kwara State enjoy uninterrupted security and safety of their lives and property at all times." the statement added.
