Major markets like the popular Eke Onunwa, Relief and Egbeada markets were open with buying and selling going on as vehicular and pedestrian movements remained normal.

Due to IPOB's sit-at-home order, commercial activities and vehicular movement didn't boom in Owerri, the capital of Imo state on Friday.

Recall that the proscribed group, Indigenous People of Biafra had late Thursday, relaxed its one-week sit-at-home.

According to DailyPost, major markets like the popular Eke Onunwa, Relief and Egbeada markets were open with buying and selling going on as vehicular and pedestrian movements remained normal.

IPOB had issued a sit-at-home order on the heels of the Anambra governorship election slated for Nov.6 in protest of the continued detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The order was, however, cancelled according to a statement by the group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful on Thursday following a public outcry and appeal by critical stakeholders in the southeast geopolitical zone.

Motor parks, banks and ATM points also bubbled with activity although most schools were locked down.

Speaking, Ugochi Chamberlain, a primary school teacher said that fear of the unknown resulting from the order must have been a reason for the absence of pupils in schools.

” If the news of the cancellation of the order had been disseminated before Thursday, ” children would have been in school today”, she said.

Also, Mr Harrison Udoka, a retired civil servant hailed the decision to relax the order adding that it would contribute to a free and fair election in Anambra.

He, however, called on the Federal Government to consider negotiating with the IPOB noting that the move would yield better results.
