APC Members of the House of Representatives has sued the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara to court over conflicting issues in the house.

About eleven members of the House of Representatives have dragged Speaker Yakubu Dogara to an Abuja High Court over a new rules passed by the House on October 8, 2015.

Joined in the suit are the House of Reps and its clerk Sani Omolori, Daily Trust reports.

The new rules were adopted based on the report of the Rep Aminu Shagari-led 15-member ad-hoc committee that reviewed the standing orders carried from the 7th House.

The new rules among others provide that any member that “approaches the mace with whatever intent” during an uproar shall be meted with a suspension of a period not less than six months.

“No member of the House or his agent may approach, handle or remove the mace under any circumstance.

“Any member who approaches or handles the mace with whatever intent, including to remove, or who removes the mace shall be liable to suspension from the service of the House for a period not less than six months or such longer period as the Speaker or Chairman may consider expedient having regard to the particular circumstances.”

The 11 APC lawmakers are Reps Aliyu Sani Madaki (Kano); Rotimi Agunsoye (Lagos); Aminu Ibrahim Malle (Taraba); Sunday Adepoju (Oyo); Ahmed Babba Kaita (Katsina); Philip Shuaibu (Edo); Abubakar Chika Adamu (Niger); Mohammed Musa Soba (Kaduna); Yusuf Bala Ikara (Kaduna); Abubakar Lado Suleja (Niger) and Lawal Yahaya Gumau (Bauchi).
