Some politicians and social media commenters in recent times have been asking to know the reason why the President refused to congratulate Rivers state governor over his re-election. The presidency has now answered the question.

Minister of Information & Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has given reason why President Muhammadu Buhari has not congratulated Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson, on his re-election as the governor of the state.
While speaking at a press conference in Abuja today Jan. 18th, he said; "This president is not in the business of interfering and intervening in elections. What if he sent a congratulatory message and they go to court and the election is overturned, will he call back the congratulatory message?
"This president believes that the presidency should be insulated from the conduct of elections and their outcomes," he said.
