Adamawa College Of Education Shut Down Indefinitely Over Student Unrest

The Adamawa State College of Education (COE), Hong, has been shut down indefinitely due to damages caused by students in the institution.

A notice signed for the College Registrar by the Deputy Registrar, Yusufu Usman, and dated 29/11/2021, asked all students and workers, except management staff and security personnel, to vacate the college immediately.

The notice reads: "I am directed to inform all members of staff and students of the indefinite closure of the college due to students’ unrest which led to damage and looting of government properties."

The statement continues: "In view of this closure, all students are to vacate the premises and the hostels."

The notice advised all law-abiding students and members of staff to stay calm and await further directives.

This comes after students at the college ransacked some offices in the school and caused extensive damage.

The protest was caused by an increase in tuition fees and a change of the timetable for a scheduled examination.
