Daily Post reports that the Kano State Fire Brigade has confirmed the death of a 45-year-old tanker driver, Dahiru Aliyu, at the NNPC depot in Hotoro.

This was contained in a statement issued to DAILY POST, by the commission’s spokesperson, Saminu Abdullahi.

The incident happened on Monday morning, the statement said.

Abdullahi said the fire brigade received an emergency call from a man named Shu’aibu Muhammad around 10:59 a.m., and a rescue team was immediately dispatched.

He added that the deceased entered one of the oil depots to remove part of spilled oil, where the smell of the oil suffocated him and he died.
