The Group C clash between Tunisia and Nigeria on Friday at the ongoing 2016 African Nations Championship ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh made three changes to his starting line-up as he gave the trio of Chisom Chikatara, Austin Obaroakpo and Usman Mohammed their first starts in Rwanda.

Despite the attacking forays by both teams, the first half failed to produce any goal. However, seven minutes into the second half, Nigeria went ahead against the run of play and it was Chikatara that broke the deadlock after he was set up by Osas Okoro for his fourth goal of the tournament.

On the hour mark, Prince Aggreh failed to make the most of a through ball by Mohammed that could have seen the Eagles double their lead.

Tunisia deservedly drew level twenty minutes from time as Akaichi turned inside the box and scored his third goal of the tournament as the game eventually ended one-all with the Tunisians the better side.

With the one point from Friday’s game in Kigali, the Eagles are still top in Group C with four points while Tunisia are second on the log with two points from as many games.

Eagles winger, Osas Okoro, was named the man-of-the-match award as he provided the assist for Chisom Chikatara who put Nigeria ahead few minutes after half time before Ahmed Akaichi restored parity midway to earn his side a crucial point.

The 25-year-old Enugu Rangers star Okoro told Completesportsnigeria.com, "I’m happy that I was named the man-of-the-match but I would have loved the team to win.

It was a keenly contested game. They were tough but we showed our class too. We look forward to winning the final group game against Guinea to qualify for the quarter-finals," he added.
