The ruling All Progressives Congress, has censured last Friday’s prostration by the new legislators before Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State has described last Friday’s prostration by the new legislators before Governor Ayo Fayose as a 'democratic sacrilege.'

According to the party, such act indicates the collapse of the legislative arm of government.

The party in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti said the new set of lawmakers had shown their lack of courage and were in no way better than town councillors.

A statement by Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, said the membership profile in the new Assembly had revealed many men and women lacking skills in tedious business of law-making were ‘selected’ to be members of the Assembly above eminently qualified Ekiti sons and daughters to enable the governor breathe on them to always have his way. Only few of them are worthy of the exalted position of legislators.

His said: “We all saw the intrigues that characterized the primaries that returned the new members. It was ballot snatching and violence on a massive scale. The same for April 11 Assembly poll.

“Fayose’s public declaration of political death for any member who works against his interest points to where Ekiti people are headed in the business of lawmaking in the next four years.

“We saw the first public declaration of loyalty by the Assembly members on the day of the inauguration when they all prostrated for Fayose in the chambers, stating he is their father.
