A man who brutally beat and starved his step-son to death with the aid of his wife has been found dead in a prison cell where he was serving a 30 years sentence.

Daniel Pelka was starved to death by his parents

The evil step-dad who brutally murdered four-year-old Daniel Pelka has been found dead in a top security prison while serving a minimum of 30 years sentence.

Krezolek had been serving a life sentence at HMP Full Sutton, Yorkshire, for the horrific killing of Daniel who was starved and beaten to death. Mariusz Krezolek, 36, was discovered lifeless by guards as they did morning rounds on Wednesday.

The evil man was convicted alongside the boy's mother Magdalena Luczak  at Birmingham Crown Court in 2013 and both were given minimum 30 year terms.

According to a Dailystar report, the evil pair were in a relationship at the time, starved the tragic schoolboy over a six month period at their home in Coventry and subjected him to torture and poisoned him with salt.

The judge at the time said the Polish pair were responsible for "unimaginable" acts of cruelty and described Daniel's level of emaciation as "unprecedented" in the UK. The court heard Daniel weighed just 1st 9lbs when he died and regularly foraged for food and even stole lunch from other pupils to try to survive. His life could have been saved if Luczak and Krezolek had dialed 999 after causing his fatal head injury.

But instead the couple, who came to the UK in search of work, locked him in his soiled room for 32 hours until he died in March 2012. Luczak had challenged the length of her sentence at the High Court in December 2014 but it was dismissed by a judge. She killed herself at HMP Foston Hall in Derbyshire in July 2015 on the eve of what would have been Daniel’s eighth birthday.

Krezolek’s death is now being investigated by an independent Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.

The Ministry of Justice said today: "HMP Full Sutton prisoner Mariusz Krezolek was found unresponsive in his cell at 8.30am on Wednesday 28 January.

“Staff immediately attempted resuscitation but he was pronounced dead shortly after.

“As will all deaths in custody, there will be an investigation by the independent Prisons & Probation Ombudsman."
