Dubious Pastor Caught Selling Unhygienic Meat to Unsuspecting Customers

 

A middle aged man who is also a pastor and meat seller has been nabbed selling unhygienic and uninspected meat to people in his butchery at Ponda Mali at Nakuru West, Kenya.

 

News24 reports that , Nakuru county Health officers led by John Mugwanja laid an ambush for Eliud Kamau at Eveready Roundabout when he was transporting the meat in his personal car.

 

The health officers later trailed Kamua to one of the butchery at Ponda Mali estate where he was caught offloading the meat which was wrapped in nylon papers and cartons.

 

Mwanganji said 70Kg of uninspected meat was recovered from Kamau's car. Nakuru Health officer Mugwanja said that Kamau attempted to flee from the scene when they arrived at the butchery. He said that they received the tip off from members of the public who notified them about a man who was selling meat which was uninspected.

 

“We trailed a personal car which had carried the meat and caught up with the man who was offloading the meat at a butchery,” he said.

 

Mugwanji added that Kamau did not have any license authorizing him to be selling the meat within Nakuru County.

 

He also said the butchery where Kamau was offloading the meat did not have any license from the health department.

 

“The man did not have any working permit from the Nakuru county government,” he said.

 

The health officer also cautioned the public against buying uninspected meat from unauthorized people.

 

Local residents from Ponda Mali slums said that Kamau was a pastor and that they were shocked to realize he was selling uninspected meat.

 

Kamau was later in the afternoon arraigned before Nakuru magistrate Victor Wakumule where he was charged with three counts of transporting uninspected meat, working without a health license and carrying meat in unhygienic conditions.

 

Kamau denied all the three accounts and was released on a cash bail of KES 100,000 a court hearing scheduled for February 18.
