A woman, neigbours described as jolly and jovial has inexplicably taken her own life after she made unsuccessful attempts to murder her children.
A woman took matters too far by taking her own life after failing to get hold of his two sons he planned to kill. The 35-year-old woman committed suicide at her Eldoret home in Kenya's Rift Valley after failing to take the lives of her two young sons.
The woman identified as Doreen Gathure took her life after attempting to kill her sons using a knife. Citizen TV reports that Gathure's children were at the Moi teaching and Referral Hospital in Nairobi.
After she failed to get hold of her husband by phone, she went to the hospital to pick up her youngest son and took him home. It was not clear what happened next.
"In the morning (Thursday), one of our neighbours came and told me that Doreen had committed suicide. We quickly rushed there to confirm and it was true," said a neighbour, Sara Cherotich.
According to a K24 report, Gathure looked in deep thought a few days before her death. She was described as generally "a jolly woman who was happy to get on with life despite its struggles".
Her mother-in-law, Esther Gathure, expressed shock at how her daughter-in-law had died, saying she expected her to communicate if she had any problems.
