The real reason why the president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki has refused calls by some senators to step aside so to face his case with CCT has been revealed.

The chairman Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi has maintained that the embattled Senate President, Bukola Saraki will not step aside even as he is going to be tried by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
Abdullahi described senators calling on the embattled President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki to step aside as mere “ranting”, adding that the case against Saraki was not “any fight against corruption”, but “simply a case of political vendetta”.
The Senate spokesman also vowed that the Senate would remain behind the Senate President despite the corruption charges against him, which the Supreme Court has ruled he should face. Abdullahi said the senators will support Senate President because they believe he would be able to prove his case before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
While speaking yesterday, Abdulahi said that the senators are behind Saraki. He said: “Following a meeting held in Abuja yesterday (Sunday) by some senators and the wide consultations with our colleagues in which we reviewed last Friday’s decision of the Supreme Court in the appeal on the preliminary matters filed by the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on the charges filed against him at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), we hereby resolve as follows:
“That from the beginning of the trial last September, we have declared that this case is not about any fight against corruption. It is simply a case of political vendetta.
“Our position remains the same. We still believe that the case is politically motivated.
“We also noted that the decision of the Supreme Court given last Friday was on preliminary matters."
